EVOLVING HISTORY: After the devastation of Hurricane Katrina (2005), I created a small informal local in-person figure drawing group in New Orleans, THE NEW ORLEANS DRAWING GROUP.... ongoing for 15 years. With COVID, I, like others, went into immediate lockdown. However, because I knew I needed something to keep me inspired and maintain some sense of normalcy, I immediately rebuilt this group into a Zoom format. Surprisingly, the group has grown tremendously, not only with participating artists, who can Zoom in from any location, but also with the availability of models. In addition, now the models are modeling in their own homes, each setting and individual unique. Now on ZOOM!
We have begun two monthly programs, Q&A Guest Artists and Open Discussions, 8-9pmC, immediately after the figure drawing session. The Q&A Sessions have established artists of various mediums talk and show their work...Of the 68 artists, included are Jimmy Wright, Susan Lyon, Aaron Westerberg, Kerry Dunn, Carol Marine, Susan Gallagher O'Neill, Daud Ahriev, Aron Belka, Ellen Eagle, Carol Peebles, Wende Caporale-Greene, Rose Frantzen, Dawn Emerson, Pam Ingalls, Sally Strand, Margaret Dyer, Brian Bailey, Corey Pitkin, Nancie King Mertz, Alan Flattmann, Mark Ivan Cole, Truman Hosner, Pam Ingalls, Paul Schulenburg, Christine Swann, Elaine Despins, Aron Belka, Vianna Szabo, Alain Picard, Clarence Porter, Casey Klahn, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Ilene Gienger-Stanfield, Glen Maxion Jordan Xu, Joseph Pearson, Rita Kirkman, Luana Winner, Susan Kuznitsky, Doug Dawson, Diane Rappisi, Judy Leeds, Martha Klioze, Paul Schulenburg, Jeri Greenberg, Gail Sibley, Adrian Giuliani, Parag Borse, Hilary Couture, Parag Borse, David Lobenberg, Emre Karaoglu, Robert Lemler, Aline Ordman, Clayton Beck, Jonathan Hodge, Emily Christoff, Yuji Sakuma, Ellen Cornett, Judd Mercer, Vladimir Zlotskiy, Desmond O'Hagan, Augustus Hoffman, Tim Rees, Laura Mocnik, Juliette Aristides...
